The first Major of the year is complete, and it was American Lilia Vu who came out on top at the 2023 Chevron Championship defeating Angel Yin in a tense playoff.
With the 2023 Solheim Cup appearing closer on the horizon, it was also a chance to earn some crucial points towards qualification to the European team.
Suzann Pettersen is at the helm for the prestigious competition which will take place in Spain for the first time at Finca Cortesin from September 22-24.
The European team will be comprised of the top two players from the LET Solheim Cup standings, six players from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, and four captain’s picks.
Four players took advantage at last week’s Major championship by finishing in the top 20 to move themselves up the LET points list.
With five months to go until the prestigious tournament, Swedish duo Maja Stark and Linn Grant still sit in the top two spots with 208.17 and 192.50 points, respectively, while Spain’s Ana Peláez Trivino is in third place with 113.17 points.
However, the Spanish talent is joined by her compatriot Carlota Ciganda who is now just behind the 25-year-old in fourth with 110 points after a T12 finish in Texas.
Ciganda ended the 2023 Chevron Championship alongside fellow Solheim Cup star Georgia Hall and the Englishwoman is fifth with 107.88 points.
World number _ Celine Boutier, who is a two-time Solheim Cup winner, ended the tournament in a share of 14th place and now sits sixth in the LET Solheim Cup standings with 97.07 points.
But it was LET rookie Albane Valenzuela from Switzerland who finished as the best European at the first Major of the year with a T4 finish after rounds of 72-67-68-73.
The Swiss star has leapt up the standings from 49th place and is now in 16th with 59 points from three events and will be someone to keep an eye on in the coming months.
