Avery officially made the squad as a Coach’s selection. It is the second straight Palmer Cup assignment for Avery, who played for the U.S. in 2022.
This year’s Palmer Cup — which features Ryder Cup-style competition with men’s and women’s collegiate golfers from the United States competing against their International counterparts, is set for June 8-10 at the Laurel Valley Golf Club, located outside Ligonier, Pa.
Avery, who was recently named to her second straight All-Pac-12 first team, leads USC in stroke average (71.80), rounds in the 60s (eight), rounds of par or better (15), rounds under par (12), top 10 finishes (four, including one win) and top 25 finishes (eight).
She is coming off a huge week. Avery first tied for third at the Pac-12 Championships while helping the Trojans to the team title. Following the event, she immediately flew to Texas for the Chevron Championship, where she was one of two amateurs to make the cut, ultimately tying for 45th.
Her 71.80 stroke average is currently inside USC’s all-time top 10 on the season chart and her rounds in the 60s are tied for fourth on USC’s all-time season chart. Her 18 career rounds in the 60s, in less than a season and a half of play, are also fourth all time and four off the school record.
Avery tied for third at the 2023 Pac-12 Championship at 2-under 214, helping lead USC to the conference title. She also tied for third at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational.
She also recently made her third career appearance at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur where she made the cut for the second year in a row to earn a final round at Augusta National.
USC’s Allisen Corpuz played in the 2021 edition for the U.S. as well as in 2020 along with fellow Trojans Alyaa Abdulghany and Gabriela Ruffels, who were members of the international side.
