PITTSBURGH, Pa. — A second-round tally of 73 from senior Monet Chun and 74s from seniors Hailey Borja and Anika Dy helped the 43rd-ranked University of Michigan women’s golf team to card a second straight 301 team total and tie for 10th with Iowa on Saturday (April 22) at the 2023 Big Ten Championships being played at Fox Chapel Golf Club. Dy’s score kept her in the top-20 individually.
Following an opening-round 301 on Friday’s (April 21), Michigan returned Saturday morning only to have to wait out an hour-long weather delay. Using Chun’s 73 (+2) and Borja’s 74 (+3), U-M tallied a second straight 301 to close the day tied for 10th at 602. The Wolverines are tied with Iowa (303-299).
Chun used 14 pars and a birdie to post the Wolverines’ top round on the second day with her 73. Using that tally, she moved up 14 positions into a tie for 29th at 150 (77-73). Following Chun’s lead, Borja used 11 pars and two birdies to etch a 74 and move up eight spots into a tie for 35th at 151 (77-74). Dy continues to lead the Maize and Blue in her championship debut as she is tied for 19th with a 148 (71-77) 36-hole total.
With a second-round 285 (+1), Ohio State moved into the 36-hole lead with a 577 (292-285) total. The Buckeyes are one shot ahead of first-day leader Illinois (286-292), which sits at 578. Maryland…
