RALEIGH, N.C. – Arizona Women’s Golf saved its best golf for last this week, carding a round of 7-under in Wednesday’s finale to win the NCAA Raleigh Regional and punch its ticket to the NCAA Championships. The Wildcats were led by freshman Julia Misemer for a second consecutive day who shot 2-under in the final round to finish NCAA Regionals in second place at 8-under par. The Wildcats’ final round performance of 7-under par was the best round of the day by five strokes and dropped their final score to 5-under.

A golfer for NC State signed an incorrect scorecard at the conclusion of the round and was disqualified, which dropped the WolfPack below the Wildcats to second place at 3-under for the week.
Arizona opened Wednesday’s round with flawless golf as it sank five birdies without a bogey in its first five holes as a team as it surged up the leaderboards after starting the day in a tie for fourth place. Sophomore Lilas Pinthier, who finished NCAA Regionals in tenth place at 1-under par, epitomized the Wildcats’ steady day with a bogey-free round of 70.
Misemer’s runner-up performance in Raleigh marks the best finish of her young career, besting her tie for 11th at the Pac-12 Championships last month. She also posted the top finish by an Arizona golfer at NCAA Regionals since Alison Walshe won the 2008 UC Davis Regional.

By securing a spot at the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale later this month, Arizona Women’s Golf has now advanced out of NCAA Regionals nine times out of 12 trips under head coach Laura Ianello that includes Arizona’s 2018 national championship.
The 2023 NCAA Championships return to Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, which are scheduled to begin on Friday, May 20. The championships’ format is four rounds of stroke play before the top eight teams move on to match play on the final two days.
