JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Duke women’s golf rising freshman Katie Li turned in an impressive performance over the weekend in her home state of New Jersey as she placed fourth overall at the Mizuho Americas Open, which was played at the Liberty National Golf Club.
The Mizuho Americas Open was a never-before-seen format on the LPGA Tour, with AJGA amateurs playing alongside LPGA Tour professionals. Li was one of 24 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) juniors competing using Stableford scoring for all four rounds.
A native of Basking Ridge, N.J., Li collected her 19th career top-5 finish on the AJGA as she turned in scores of 33, 34, 37 and 37 to finish with a ledger of 141. She carded back-to-back rounds of 1-under, 71, on Saturday and Sunday to make a run for the title.
Li finished only six points behind the medalist, Yana Wilson, who had 147 points.
