Rachel Houston and Xavier Marcoux Earn Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship


PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rachel Houston from Rutgers’ field hockey and Xavier Marcoux from Rutgers men’s golf were recognized as recipients of the Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship. Houston plans to utilize the scholarship for postgraduate nursing school in Ireland, while Marcoux is pursuing a Master’s of Financial Analysis in the Rutgers Business School.

Houston, the team’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award Honoree in 2022, is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. A member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Athletic Honor Society, she was on the Dean’s List in six different semesters.

The Hillsborough, Northern Ireland native played in 74 games in a Scarlet Knight uniform, making 48 starts. In that time, she scored nine goals and had nine assists, for a total of 27 points with four game-winning goals. She was a key member of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament champion team.

Marcoux is a two-time team captain. A starter in every event as a Scarlet Knight (87 career rounds), he was the 2022 Old Town Collegiate Champion, shooting a -5 score of 65 in the final round to seal the win. The Concord, Mass. native was Big Ten Golfer of the Week in fall of 2022. A 2022-23 Big Ten Player to Watch and 2021-22 PING All-Region Team selection, he has previously been named Academic All-Big Ten and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. A Dean’s List selection, he also earned the Athletic Director’s Excellence Award in 2022.
