Leona Maguire Wins Meijer LPGA Classic


BELMONT, Mich. – Former Duke women’s golf two-time National Player of the Year, Leona Maguire, claimed her second LPGA victory on Sunday as shot 6-under-par over her final six holes to win the Meijer LPGA Classic at the Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Mich.

Maguire, a 2018 Duke graduate, turned in rounds of 69, 65, 69 and 64 for a 72-hole total of 21-under-par, 267.  She went bogey-free in the final round and shot the score of the day with an 8-under-par, 64.  Maguire hit 11 fairways, 17 greens and had 29 putts on Sunday.  She won by two strokes over Ariya Jutanugarn (269).    

On the back nine, Maguire was 15-under heading to hole No. 13.  She drained a birdie on No. 13, eagle on No. 14 and then birdied the final three holes to claim the victory.  

Maguire’s previous LPGA victory came at the 2022 LPGA Drive On Championship at the Crown Colony Golf and Country Club.  

Another former Duke National Player of the Year, Lindy Duncan, placed tied for 57th with a 284 this week.
