NORMAN, Okla. – A trio of Duke men’s golfers have been named GCAA All-America Scholars for the 2022-23 season, the organization announced Wednesday. Kelly Chinn, Luke Sample and Ian Siebers earn the recognition, marking the seventh consecutive year that multiple Blue Devils have appeared on the list.
To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically, must participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
Chinn and Sample, both rising juniors, receive the honor for the first time in their careers. Siebers is a two-time honoree after earning his first recognition last season. The trio of Blue Devils were three of the six total Duke men’s golfers who earned Academic All-ACC honors.
Sample led the team in stroke average this season at 71.47 through a total of 38 rounds, with Siebers and Chinn close behind with stroke averages of 71.70 and 72.05, respectively. The Blue Devils earned a berth to an NCAA regional for the eighth consecutive season and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2019.
