Lignell Leads the Charge for Women’s Golf At Mason Rudolph Championship

Franklin, Tenn. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team got underway at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Friday, compiling a score of 282 (-6) to sit tied for fifth heading into the second round. 
 
The Rebels ended the opening day of play from Franklin with a total of 18 total birdies as a team, along with a combined 56 pars. Ole Miss will look to move up the leaderboard, with only eight strokes separating the Rebels from first place. 
 
Senior Andrea Lignell led the charge for the Rebels, sinking six birdies in the back nine to tie her career-low round score of 66 (-6). The Gothenburg, Sweden, native will kick off Saturday’s round tied for second and currently ranks first amongst all golfers in par-4 scoring (-5).
 
Fellow All-American, Caitlyn Macnab, wasn’t far behind as she also earned a top 10 day with an opening round score of three-under par (69). Macnab tallied six birdies in today’s showing and will enter the second round of action tied for eighth overall.
 
Natacha Host Husted also put together a strong start to her weekend for the Rebels, ending the opening day of the Mason Rudolph Championship even with a score of 72 and tied for 34th.
 
The Rebel lineup was then rounded out by the duo of Justine Fournand, who shot a score of 75 (+3), and freshman Sophie Linder, who carded a 76 (+4) score in the initial round.
 
Ole Miss will be back in action tomorrow for round two from the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Linder will kick start the Rebels as she is set to tee off of Hole 1 at 9:24 a.m. CT, with the other four following.
