HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. – Arizona Women’s Golf travels to Illinois for their second tournament of the season when the Wildcats tee off at the Windy City Classic. Arizona was led by graduate senior Gile Bite Starkute and sophomore Nena Wongthanavimok who each shot 2-under par at the Mason Rudolph Championship last week.
“I am excited to see our team come back out and compete after a quick turnaround,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “Last week was a good learning experience for us in Tennessee, and our young ladies are eager to come out and play some great golf. We have a lot of experience with this tournament and course, which will be to our benefit this week.”
Starkute and Wongthanavimok will lead the Arizona lineup this week, and they will be joined by juniors Carolina Melgrati and Lilas Pinthier as well as sophomore Julia Misemer. This week also marks the 12th appearance by the Wildcats in the Windy City Classic, which is hosted by Northwestern.
The Cats are part of a five-team contingency of Pac-12 programs in the field at Exmoor Country Club, joining Arizona State, Oregon, USC and UCLA.
The course will play at a distance of 6,338 yards at a par of 72. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday before finishing with 18 on Tuesday.
