Men’s Golf Seeks More Success in Texas – Vanderbilt University Athletics – Official Athletics Website

FORT WORTH, Texas – The fall season continues for the No. 7-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team this week, as the Commodores make their second trip to the Lone Star State in a month to participate in the 2023 Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational. The two-day tournament begins this Monday at Shady Oaks Country.

Tournament Format
The first two rounds of the 2023 Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational will take place Monday. The event concludes Tuesday with one 18-hole round.

Course Information
The 2023 Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational will be played at Shady Oaks Country Club, a 6,885-yard course that plays as a par 70.

The Field
A total of 15 teams will be competing at the 2023 Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, eight of which are ranked in the top 25 of the GOLFWEEK/Sagarin Rankings. The No. 7-ranked Commodores will take on No. 1 North Carolina, No. 4 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Arizona State, No. 9 Texas, No. 13 Texas Tech, No. 18 Texas A&M, and No. 24 Oklahoma. The rest of the field includes Georgia, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pepperdine, Florida State, TCU, and Wake Forest.

Tee Times
Teams will begin Round 1 at 8 a.m. on Monday then head straight into Round 2 at the conclusion of the first round. Tuesday’s final round also features an 8 a.m. tee time.

“I am encouraged by the steps we are taking as a team right now,” said Limbaugh. “We hope we continue that this week in Ft. Worth. College golf is all about how you grow throughout the season. We have had different guys step up so far and we will need more of that this week. We have to continue to stay mentally tough and have some fun playing the game.

“We are thankful to get to play in the Ben Hogan Collegiate each year. It is always run in a first-class manner, and we have made a lot of great friendships there. It’s a great field on a new venue this year, and we take a lot of pride in giving our guys a chance to play against the best in the country.”

Last Time Out
The Commodores concluded SEC Match Play in second place after dropping a 3-2 decision to Auburn last week. Vanderbilt also claimed second place in stroke play at the SEC Match Play, as the Dores carded 28-under 824 over three rounds.
