Gilligan Selected to Haskins Award Spring Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Florida men’s golfer Ian Gilligan was named to the first Spring Haskins Award Watch List on Monday by Golfweek and Golf Channel.

Celebrating its 54th year, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is considered the most prestigious award in collegiate golf, and is presented annually to the most outstanding male golfer. The winner of the oldest individual college golf award is voted on by players, coaches, golf SIDS, and select golf media members and will be announced in early June.

Florida is one of five schools (Auburn, Ole Miss, Stanford, Vanderbilt) to have a golfer on each top-collegiate golfer award watch list as UF women’s golfer Maisie Filler was named to the ANNIKA Award Spring Watch List today.

Gilligan has had a hot start to the spring with finishes of 2-3-1 and match play win in the first four spring events. He recently won his fifth collegiate tournament and first as a Gator, at the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The victory also earned him an exemption into the PGA Tour’s 2024 Shriners Open and back-to-back SEC Golfer of the Week honors.

The Long Beach State transfer leads or is tied for all statistical categories for the Gators. All nine of his rounds this spring have been for even par or better with eight consecutive under par. Gilligan is ranked the No. 14 player in the country and No. 7 in the Southeastern Conference per the NCAA Rankings.

Florida returns to play at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. The three-day event begins on March 15 at Forest Heights.
