Duke Travels to Charlotte for ACC Championship

CHARLOTTE – The Duke men’s golf team is set for ACC Championship action, held Friday, April 19 through Monday, April 22, at Charlotte Country Club. The Blue Devils are seeking their ninth ACC title and aim to build off a semifinal appearance in last season’s ACC Championship.

Duke is one of only four teams in the ACC that have claimed the last 14 conference titles, with the Blue Devils winning in 2017 and 2013, Wake Forest in 2022, Clemson in 2021 and 2016 and Georgia Tech winning the other nine. The 2020 championship was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Blue Devils, one of five teams inside the latest top-25 from Scoreboard by Clippd, are the No. 5-seed this year and are paired with fourth-seeded Georgia Tech and sixth-seeded Notre Dame for the first round.

Head coach Jamie Green starts a lineup of Luke Sample, Ethan Evans, Bryan Kim, William Love and Daniel Choi. Ian Siebers will be in Charlotte as well, serving as Duke’s substitute. The Blue Devils’ will tee off No. 1 on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m., and running through 9:48 a.m.

Sample currently paces the Blue Devils with an overall 71.73 stroke average and is looking to build off his second-place finish at the Stitch Intercollegiate earlier in April. Evans leads Duke in scoring average since the calendar turned to 2024 and is tied with Love for most under-par rounds in the spring portion of the schedule. Kim, the lone freshman on Duke’s roster, started in all 10 team events this season and has carded the second-most birdies of any Blue Devil in the starting lineup. Choi, a sophomore, is coming off a career-best individual finish at the Stitch Intercollegiate and will make his first appearance at the ACC Championship.

The tournament format will use three rounds of stroke play, spanning the first three days of the event, to determine the four teams advancing to the match play portion of the event. 18 holes will be played Friday through Sunday, and the match play semifinals are scheduled for 7:30 a.m., on Monday morning, with a one-hour break before the finals on Monday afternoon.

Both the semifinals and finals will be aired live on ACC Network Extra, with a championship recap show airing on ACC Network on May 6 at 10 p.m.
