ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – South Carolina is in 11th after 18 holes of the 2024 SEC Men’s Golf Championship. The Gamecocks shot 287 (+7) and sit six shots back of the top-eight for match play.
Redshirt sophomore Frankie Harris paced Carolina with a 2-under 68 that his him inside the top-10 at T-8th. The Boca Raton, Fla., native had four birdies on the day, shooting 34 (-1) on each side of Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course.
Sixth-year Lansdon Robbins shot 71 (+1). He had three birdies and holed out for eagle at the par-4 second hole. Sophomore Zach Adams shot 72 (+2) with a trio of birdies on his scorecard. Both players are making their second appearances in the SEC Championship.
Senior Rafe Reynolds was the final counting score with a 6-over 76. Freshman Bo Carpenter shot 77 (+7) in his SEC Championship debut.
No. 2 Vanderbilt has a 1-shot lead at 11-under over No. 23 Georgia. The Bulldogs’ Camden Smith is the 18-hole leader thanks to an opening round 65 (-5). Twenty-six players in the 70-man field broke par in round one.
The Gamecocks will be paired with Kentucky and Mississippi State for the second round on Thursday. Carpenter will be the first player off for Carolina from hole 10 at 9:20 a.m. (ET) with live scoring available again via Golfstat.
