UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s golf team travels to West Virginia for the penultimate tournament of the fall season when the Nittany Lions compete in the Mountaineer Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

The 12-team field includes host West Virginia, Bowing Green, Drexel, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, Marshall, Maryland, NC State, Ohio, Penn State, and Xavier. The first and second rounds will be played Monday with an 8:45 a.m. start, while Tuesday’s third and final round will tee off at 8:30 a.m.

Penn State is coming off a stellar showing at Wake Forest’s Old Town Club Collegiate last week where the Nittany Lions finished the tournament at 12-under, 828, marking the second-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history. Penn State’s strong showing was bolstered by Monday afternoon’s school-record low 266 second round.

Patrick Sheehan has finished in the top 10 of all three of this fall’s tournaments and looks to continue his impressive junior campaign. Freshman Morgan Lofland and graduate student Lou Olsakovsky have been mainstays in Penn State’s lineup this fall and will compete once again, while being joined by freshman Jake Griffin and sophomore James Allen who will both be participating in their second tournament this fall. Graduate student James McHugh, junior Jimmy Meyers and junior Ben Smith will all compete as individuals.

The tournament will be played at Pete Dye Golf Club’s par 72, 7,308-yard course. Live stats and results from the Mountaineer Invitational will be available on GolfStat. A recap of each day’s round and results will be available on GoPSUsports.com.
