UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s golf junior Patrick Sheehan and graduate student Lou Olsakovsky are set to compete as individuals in the NCAA Columbus Regional at the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State Golf Club Monday through Wednesday.
Sheehan and Olsakovsky are the first Nittany Lions to earn an individual bid to NCAA Regionals since former All-American T.J. Howe in 2011. The Nittany Lions earned NCAA Regional bids as a team for four-straight years from 2015-18 and have made 24 appearances as a team in program history.
Sheehan, a second team All-Big Ten selection, put together a stellar junior campaign in which he led the Nittany Lions with a 70.79 stroke average. The Doylestown, Pa. native collected six top-10 finishes and eight top-15 finishes while competing in 11 events throughout the 2021-22 season. He is ranked No. 95 in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
Olsakovsky gets the chance to continue his stellar Penn State career at NCAA Regionals. The graduate student ranked second on the team this season with a 71.79 stroke average. He collected six top-15 finishes throughout his final season in the Blue &White, including a pair of top-10 placements.
The Columbus Regional is one of six regional host sites for the 2022 championship. The 7,422-yard Scarlet Course plays at a par of 71. Tee times for the field will begin at 7:30 a.m., with 18 holes being played each day. Olsakovsky will tee off at 9:31 a.m. and Sheehan at 9:53 a.m….
