SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Washington senior golfer RJ Manke shot an even-par 70 Saturday in round two of the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. He heads in to Sunday’s third round with a two-round score of 4-over 144.

Manke, one of six players competing as an individual alongside 30 teams, was just three strokes outside of the top-10 in a tightly packed field at Grayhawk Golf Club, with much of the field still on the course having teed off in the afternoon.

When the field had finally completed the round in the early evening, Manke was in a tie for 28th place, having moved up 34 places from the end of round one. He heads into Sunday just three strokes outside of from the top 10.

On Saturday, Manke began his round on the back nine where, on Friday, he was 4-over after completing the front nine at even par. Saturday, however, he carded birdies on No. 12 and No. 16, along with a bogey on the par-3 13th, to finish his first nine holes at 1-under par.

After making the turn, Manke picked up another stroke with a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole, moving him to 2-under for the round and 2-over for the tournament, and moving him up 38 spots to 24th overall – though half of the field had yet to begin their round.

On the front nine, Manke birdied the fourth hole to get to 2-under again, but bogies on No. 6 and No. 8 moved him back to even.

After Sunday’s third round, the field will be cut from 30 to 15 teams, with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team also competing in a fourth round on Monday, when the individual champion will be crowned. Manke will tee offf of hole No. 10 at 8:22 a.m. PT.
