Five Things to Know: Barbara Nicklaus Cup


MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women’s golf returns to action this Monday, Oct. 3 and Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup hosted by Ohio State.

Here are the five things to know as the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin tied for fourth place (+12, 296-291-289=876) at the team’s home tournament — the Badger Invitational — held at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison on Sept. 18-20. Senior Emily Lauterbach led the Badgers and finished T12 at 1-over par (71-76-70=217), while sophomore teammates Chloe Chan (+4, 74-72-74=220) and Vanessa Ho (+4, 75-73-72=220) both tied for 19th place to round out the Badgers’ top three finishers. 2. The Course: The Barbara Nicklaus Cup is held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio and named for Nicklaus because of her contributions and support of the game and whose husband is famed golfer Jack Nicklaus. Home of the prestigious Memorial Tournament since 1976, Muirfield Village has been consistently ranked in the Top 20 in the United States and was designed by Jack Nicklaus.

3. The Tournament: Playing at par 72 and 6,362 yards, the Badgers will play 36 holes on Monday starting at 7:45 a.m. CT with tee times off Hole 10. Tuesday’s third round also starts at 7 a.m. CT with tee times off holes 1 and 10 as determined by Monday’s results.

4. The Field: Competing in the tournament are Ohio State, Colorado, Furman, Maryland, Notre Dame, TCU, Tulsa and Wisconsin. Competing for the Badgers are Lauterbach, Chan, Ho, Alexia Siehl and Nicole Ciskowski in the lineup.
