Women's Golf Ready for Windy City Collegiate


TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Women’s Golf gets ready to compete in their second tournament of the 2022-23 season, heading to Highland Park, Illinois for the Windy City Collegiate hosted at Exmoor Country Club.

Arizona State will complete 54 holes over the course of two days, starting with a 36-hole effort on Monday that will test the mental and physical stamina of the Sun Devils. The action starts tomorrow morning at 6:15 AM MST, with the first of five Sun Devils teeing-off. Follow the action with live scoring by clicking here.

Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye has brought her team to three previous Windy City Collegiate events, putting together strong finishes each time. It is always an occasion when Sun Devil Women’s Golf returns to the state of Illinois and the “Windy City” area, as Farr-Kaye and Arizona State claimed the 2017 NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove. 

“This area will always be special to this program, as it is where we achieved one of our greatest accomplishments, winning the 2017 title” Coach Farr-Kaye reflected. “I have some great memories from that 2017 team and championship run and they are always on the top of my mind when we play in this event..”

COACH’S CORNER

“The team is ready to get back out on the course and apply some of the things we have been working on the past few weeks,” Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye mentioned. “We have been working hard to make adjustments now that we have a tournament under our belt. I expect us to come out prepared this week at a great event in Illinois.”

“The qualifying for a spot in the lineup was extremely competitive once again,” Coach Farr-Kaye added. “I am confident that each member of this team can lead us to an tournament championship or win an event on their own.”

THE FIELD

For the second consecutive event, Arizona State will be challenged by an extremely talented field that is filled with ranked teams. 11 of the 15 teams found themselves in at least one of the most recent major Top-25 polls, as the Sun Devils will be tested by extremely deep competition. Included in those ranked teams is host school Northwestern, along with USC, Oregon, Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, Arizona, Duke, Texas, and Michigan. Rounding out the field are regular NCAA Tournament participants Purdue, Michigan State, Washington, and Iowa State.
