Men's Golf Finishes Day One At The Blessings Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mississippi State men’s golf team finished the first round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in eighth place, shooting 12-under as a team.

“I thought we did a good job of battling all day and competing,” head coach Dusty Smith said. “We didn’t do a good enough job on doing the simple things well today. We need to make sure we clean that up these next two rounds. I have a lot of trust in these guys. We need to play to our standard tomorrow and make sure we stay above that line.”

Ruan Pretorius and Garrett Endicott finished top 20 in a field of 57 men’s golfers. Pretorius ended the day tied for 11th, shooting even par and making four birdies. Endicott is tied for 19th at 2-over on a challenging course that saw just 10 individuals shoot below par on Monday. He made four birdies in the round and sank his third eagle of the season on the No. 2 hole.

Ford Clegg and William Wann sit in a six-way tie for 41st, both shooting 5-over after the round. Hunter Logan is tied for 47th.

The Bulldogs will tee off at 10:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday to begin the second round of the tournament.
