Women’s Golf Caps Off Opening Day of Blessings Invite in Second


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3 ranked Ole Miss women’s golf team wrapped up their opening round of play at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday by shooting a team score of 296 (+8) to sit in second place on the team leaderboard.

The Rebels finished the opening round of play in Fayetteville leading the field with 53 pars, while also sinking 14 birdies to help Ole Miss sit second heading into Tuesday. Ole Miss enters the second round of action ranked second in the field in par-3 (+2) and par-4 (+6) scoring as a team.

Andrea Lignell led the way for the Rebels coming off of her first collegiate medalist finish at the Cougar Classic, firing home a 71 (-1) to tie her for second individually at the end of day one.

The reigning SEC Co-Women’s Golfer of the Week connected on four birdie putts on Monday en route to finishing under par once again for Ole Miss. The senior has now shot below par in all four of her rounds of the 2022 fall season, having shot three rounds in the 60s during her Cougar Classic tournament victory (67-68-69).

Also wrapping up her day in the top 10 for the Rebels was sophomore Natacha Host Husted. Host Husted shot a 73 (+1) which puts the Copenhagen, Denmark, native tied for sixth overall on the individual leaderboard. 

Host Husted is pursuing a new career-best finish with the Rebels, with her current career-high finish being an eighth place finish at the 2021 East Lake Cup during her freshman season. She also capped off day one with a tournament-high 16 holes of par golf, along with going par-or-better on 17 holes.

Chiara Tamburlini, a 2021-22 All-American, made her season debut for the Rebels by tallying a 76 (+4) to finish day one tied for 15th. Tamburlini, who finished in the top 20 at all 11 of her tournament appearances for the Rebels last season, ended her day with 14 holes of par or better golf.

Molly Hardwick saw her collegiate debut for the Rebels on Monday, with the freshman stringing together a trio of birdies to finish her first round of college golf with a 76 (+4), tying her for 15th overall.
