Golden Bears Drop Back To 11th After 36 Holes Played

WINDERMERE, Fla. – Jeewon Park played bogey-free golf on the way to a second-round 2-under-par 70, but the California men’s golf team dropped three spots to 11th place on the team leaderboard at the Isleworth Collegiate on Monday.

The Golden Bears could not make up ground on the front half of a talented 15-team field at Isleworth Golf and Country Club, carding an 8-over-par 296 in Monday’s second round. The 18-hole score put Cal at 13-over par overall (293-296 – 589) with one round remaining. Three teams are under par after 36 holes, with third-ranked Auburn (-20) and 11th-ranked Florida (-12) pacing the field.

Park birdied holes 3 and 6 and jumped 11 spots individually into a tie for 26th with his second-round 70. The junior has rebounded nicely from a sluggish start to the opening round – he recorded a 5-over-par 41 on the front nine Sunday – by shooting 4-under-par in the past 27 holes at Isleworth. Park will enter the final round on Tuesday just four strokes outside of the top 10 individually.
