Five Things to Know: Battle at the Beach


MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women’s golf is heading out of the states to Mexico, where they will complete the fall season with the Battle at the Beach hosted by TCU. The 54-hole tournament will take place from Friday, Oct. 28 to Sunday, Oct. 30. 

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin last competed in the Marilynn Smith Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas where they placed fifth out of 15 teams with a +45. Emily Lauterbach led the Badgers with a +4 to T3 and Gia Feliciano followed right behind with a +6 to T6. Alexia Siehl shot a +19 to T47, while Vanessa Ho shot a +23 to T62. Chloe Chan rounded out the lineup for Wisconsin with a +27 to T74. 

2. The Course: TCU’s Battle at the Beach will be held at Club Campestre San Jose Golf Course in San José del Cabo, Mexico. The course, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus, will be played as a par 72, 6,250 yards. The course features views of the Sea of Cortez and surrounding canyons and mountains, and is the first course to use the saltwater-resistant “Paspalum” grass. 

3. The Tournament: The Battle at the Beach will be played from Friday, Oct. 28 – Sunday, Oct. 30 with 18 holes being played on each day. Friday and Saturday both begin at 9 a.m. CT with a shotgun start, while Sunday begins at 8 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. 

4. The Field: Teams competing in the tournament are TCU, Arkansas, Baylor, Charlotte, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, UNT, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. In the lineup for the Badgers are Emily Lauterbach, Gia Feliciano, Vanessa Ho, Alexia Siehl and Nicole Ciskowski.
