Last season saw Manon De Roey secure her breakthrough victory on the LET and finishing fourth in the Race to Costa del Sol.
It was in the individual event at the Aramco Team Series – Bangkok where the Belgian got her hands on the trophy.
While in December, De Roey also managed to secure status on the LPGA Tour by finishing T28 at the Final Stage of Q-Series.
After such a consistent season, the 31-year-old hopes to continue that momentum in 2023 season starting at Vipingo Ridge for the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.
“Last year was a pretty good season, I was very consistent throughout the year,” she said. “I saw my coaches this winter to work on a few things to keep the momentum going, and I think I can build this year – the confidence is there and I’m looking forward to the year.
“The LPGA is going to be a lot different I think – but I proved to myself that I’m capable of playing at that level, it’s going to be very exciting and I’m going to go fully committed to it at the tournaments I can get into. I don’t get into all the tournaments so you’ll still see me on the LET this year – don’t worry.
“Last year I felt burned out by the summer because I wanted to play every tournament, so this year I’m going to look into that more and taker some more breaks, so I’m hoping to make that work better this year.”
During the off-season, De Roey took a break from golf and has been furnishing the house she bought last year.
Vipingo Ridge has been a place where the Belgian player has done well in the past with a T12 result last year and a top-10 finish in 2019.
And De Roey will find out more about her game and where she is at the week progresses and she begins her 2023 season.
She explained: “I didn’t touch a club for two weeks while I was home, I needed a break because there was a lot of golf last year. I bought a house last year so I’m getting into that a bit and buying a lot of furniture and things. It’s very exciting and it’s a big step in my life, so that’s what I did over the winter break.
“I’m happy to be back in Kenya for the first event on the LET. I think I’m going to use this as a bit of a warmup tournament, I played a bit in Spain last week but I’m just going to go with it and see how it goes to prepare for the next few tournaments coming up.
“It’s been good to play some practice rounds to see how the course reacts, it’s still quite firm here but I managed just fine and have my game plan…
