Izuzquiza Leads Women's Golf In Collegiate Invitational


University of North Carolina junior Crista Izuzquiza shot a 1-under-par 71 today in the final round of the Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico.
 
Izuzquiza’s 71 was Carolina’s best round of the 54-hole tournament and secured Izuzquiza a top-25 finish. The Madrid, Spain, native tied for 23rd place at 10-over 226.
 
Senior Kayla Smith and freshman Megan Streicher shot 73 and 74, respectively today. Senior Krista Junkkari shot even-par 72 in the second round, which was completed Monday morning, and tied for 33rd place.
 
Baylor shot 2-under 286 in the third round for the best round of the tournament and won the event by 10 shots. Baylor finished 8-over 872.
 
Florida State was second at 18 over, Georgia was third at 20 over, California was fourth at 3 over and NC State was fifth at 32 over.
 
Baylor’s Rosie Belsham shot 6-under 66 today to win medalist honors at 6-under 210.
 
The Tar Heels return to action February 19-21 at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla.
