BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team travels down to Melbourne, Florida for its second spring tournament of the season – the Moon Golf Invitational hosted by Louisville.
It’s the second straight visit for Tech to the Sunshine State. The Hokies opened their spring gauntlet playing in the UCF Challenge in Orlando on the weekend of February 5th. Tech finished 15th.
The Hokies will once again face a stern test in Florida as they compete against six top 25 teams, including two top 10 squads. The tournament consists of 17 total teams, with six of the teams coming from the ACC.
Representing the maroon and orange will be a trio of seniors: Becca DiNunzio, Symone Henriques and Alyssa Montgomery. Tech’s other two starters will be sophomore Ginnie Lee and freshman Morgan Ketchum.
DiNunzio paced the Hokies in the UCF Challenge by placing 37th at even-par 216.
The site of competition for the Moon Golf Invitational is Suntree Country Club. The private, member-owned country club boasts two PGA quality courses that have both hosted their fair share of PGA and LPGA champions. The Classic course is the chosen course for this specific event that measures out to 6,400 yards and is a par 72.
Sunday and Monday will feature tee times beginning at 8 a.m., while Tuesday’s final round will have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Tech will be paired with Arkansas, UCF and Clemson for the first round.
