The 14th-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team is set to tee off outside of the mainland United States for the second time this spring, taking part in the Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The Vols tee off the three-day, three-round tournament on Sunday and are scheduled to compete in one round apiece on Monday and Tuesday.

According to Golfstat’s rankings, eight of the 13 participating teams in the Cabo Collegiate are ranked inside the top 20—including five in the top 10.

Tennessee is coming off a tied-for-seventh-place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic in its opening tournament of the spring in which it shot 16-under as a team. Competing in the Vols’ lineup for just the second time, freshman Evan Woosley-Reed shot 8-under for the tournament and tied for eighth place individually.

This year marks the Vols’ third all-time appearance at the Cabo Collegiate. Tennessee placed sixth in the field last year after shooting 21-under for the tournament.

Evan Woosley-Reed
The Shelbyville, Tennessee, native is coming off back-to-back top-10 finishes this spring at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate and the Puerto Rico Classic. The true freshman’s 8-under performance in Puerto Rico led to an SEC Freshman of the Week honor.

The redshirt junior posted two top-25 finishes during the fall, including his runner-up finish at the SEC Match Play Championship where he shot his career-best 54-hole score of 12-under.
