Malleck Ties Career-Best, Play Suspended at Desert Mountain Collegiate

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Reed Malleck tied his career-best with a 69 (-3) in the first round at the Desert Mountain Collegiate before play was suspended by darkness Saturday evening. 

Action will resume at 9 a.m. central Sunday morning, where teams will finish their second round. Round three will follow immediately after.

Malleck (Jr., York, Neb.) previously shot a 69 at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational (Oct. 28-30). Through 10 holes of his second round, he remains firmly in the top 10, sitting in seventh place. His career-high finish currently is T-34th, which he achieved at the Git-R-Done Invitational in Lincoln on April 18, 2021. 

Led by Malleck’s strong round, Nebraska finished round one firmly in the hunt in 4th place. Will Marshall (Sr., Elburn, Ill.) also added a 71 (-1) to put him in ninth place. As a team, Nebraska sits tied for 11th place through 31 holes.
