CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illini women’s golf is set to compete in the Briar’s Creek Invitational at the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek, hosted by the College of Charleston. The two-day tournament will be played on Monday, March 13, through Tuesday, March 14.
THE SETTING
The Briar’s Creek Invitational is held at the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek. The course was designed by architect Rees Jones in 2002. The course will be set up for a par 72 and will play 6,110 yards long.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
There will be 16 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament. Both days will feature 7:45 a.m. CT shotgun starts, with 36 holes of continuous play on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
THE FIELD
Along with the Illini, the 16-team field for the Briar’s Creek Invitational will include Boston College, Campbell, Charleston, East Carolina, Iowa, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, NC State, North Florida, Old Dominion, Penn State, Rutgers, SMU and UCF.

ILLINI AT BRIAR’S CREEK INVITATIONAL
This will be the third-straight year and eighth time overall that the Illini will compete in the Briar’s Creek Invitational. In last year’s event, the Orange and Blue finished sixth out of 17 teams carding a 54-hole total of 883 (+19). Illinois’ best finish in this tournament is third, which they did in 2016 and 2018.

UP NEXT
The Illini will return to action on Friday, March 24, where they begin play at the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
