CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – It is an action-packed week ahead for Fighting Illini men’s golf touring professionals, with six alums slated to take part in events across the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.

PGA Tour

Nick Hardy and Thomas Detry are scheduled to tee off alongside three-time PGA Tour winner D.A. Points this week at the Corales Puntacana Championship at the Puntacana Resort & Club’s Corales Golf Course in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

All three competitors were in the field last year in Punta Cana, with Detry and Points finishing 15th and 62nd, respectively.

PGA Tour Champions

Steve Stricker is coming off of a runner-up finish, one stroke of champion Ernie Els’ pace, last week at the Hoag Classic. This week, he’ll again be among the favorites in the field as the senior circuit tees off at The Galleri Classic at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

He opened 2023 with a victory at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in late January and is looking for his fifth consecutive season with multiple victories after narrowly missing out last week. Stricker won three PGA Tour Champions events in 2018, two each in 2019 and 2020-21, and four in 2022.

Korn Ferry Tour

Brian Campbell and Michael Feagles are both slated to tee off this week as the Korn Ferry Tour returns from a five-week hiatus with the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club, Savannah, Ga.

Campbell is coming off a top-20 finish (T17) at the Astara Golf Championship on Feb. 12, and also finished 34th at the Club Car Championship in 2020-21.

LIV Golf

Thomas Pieters placed 34th individually, and his RangeGoats GC team placed eighth to earn one point in the season-long LIV Golf team standings at the tour’s stop in Tucson last weekend. Their next scheduled event is March 31-April 2 in Orlando, Fla.
