NAPA, Calif. – Zoe Antoinette Campos won her second medal in back-to-back tournaments at the Silverado Showdown at Silverado Resort on Wednesday with a score of 5-under (67-73-71). The UCLA women’s golf team finished in third place at 18-over for the tournament (294-296-292).
By virtue of Campos’ win, she will receive an exemption into the LPGA Chevron Championship.
Campos is the first Bruin since 2018-19 to win multiple medals in a single season since 2018-19 when UCLA’s trio of Patty Tavatanakit (three wins), Mariel Galdiano (two wins) and Beth Wu (two wins) achieved the feat.
Campos finished three strokes ahead of Dianna Lee (Northwestern), Hailee Cooper (Texas A&M) and Catherine Park (Oregon), who finished in a three-way tie for runner-up.
No. 16 Northwestern won the team title at 9-over (284-288-301) despite shooting 13-over in the final round.
Campos pulled ahead in round three just before the turn onto the back nine when she birdied the par-4 eighth and par-5 ninth holes to take a two-stroke lead over Texas A&M’s Hailee Cooper.
The Valencia, Calif. native has now finished under par in five of her last six rounds with a 69.2 scoring average across that stretch.
Sophomore Caroline Canales had an impressive day three, shooting a 2-under 70 to jump 16 spots on the leaderboard to seventh place and finish 3-over for the tournament (75-75-70). Both Canales and Campos are tied for the team-lead with six top-10 marks this season.
Alessia Nobilio tied for 35th at 12-over (75-79-74), Yuki Yoshihara tied for 46th at 14-over (77-73-80) and Annabel Wilson tied for 66th at 17-over (80-76-77).
UCLA opens postseason play at the Pac-12 Championships in Phoenix, Ariz. in a week and a half, beginning Monday, April 17.
