Bears Close Strong At El Macero Classic



Cal Moves Up Four Spots On Final Day

EL MACERO – The California men’s golf team tied its best round of the El Macero Classic on Sunday, closing things out with its second straight even-par 288 to move up another four spots to 11th out of 20 teams.

Daniel Heo (76-72-70 – 218) led the Golden Bears by carding a 2-under 70 in round three, moving all the way up from 57th place entering the day to 36th by the end of the competition.

Heo’s day three score tied Nathan Wang and Aaron Du for the lowest single-round mark of the tournament for the Bears. After both shooting 2-under on Saturday, Wang and Du matched each other shooting 1-over 73 in round three.

Wang (72-70-73 – 215) cemented his place in the top 20, carding a 1-under 215 through 56 holes and ending in a tie for 17th individually. Du (74-70-73 – 217) ended in 32nd place with a 1-over 217.

As a team, the Bears finished at 7-over 871 for the tournament, which was won by San Diego (283-288-279 – 850).
