Wang Finishes Tied for Sixth as Illini Wrap Up Regular Season at Lady Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Illinois women’s golf team closed out the 2022-23 regular season with a ninth placed finish at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in after carding a third round total of 304 (+16) at The Ohio State University Golf Club.

Crystal Wang finishes the tournament tied for sixth after her final round 73 (+1), tallying two birdies along the way. Wang earned her seventh Top 10 finish of the season in 10 events.

Isabel Sy placed tied for 33rd after a third round 77 (+5). Siyan Chen finished tied for 48th after a 3-over 75, collecting four birdies during her final round. Chen picked up three of those birdies on the front nine, including going back-to-back on No. 3 and 4.

Lexanne Halama and Mattie Frick each finished tied for 61st after turning in rounds of 79 (+7) and 83 (+11) respectively. Alise Knudson finished 80th after a final round 81 (+10).

Hosts Ohio State took home the team title at 10-under, with Michigan State (-1) and Penn State (E) rounding out the Top 3. Individually, Monet Chun (Michigan) and Patrice Mackova (Maryland) shared honors at 8-under (208).

The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Friday at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh at the Big Ten Championships.
