Pack Finishes in Eighth Place at ACC Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team closed the ACC Championship in eighth place after three rounds of play at the Country Club of North Carolina.

Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia and Duke finished in the top-four of stroke play to advance to match play to determine the ACC Team Champion.

Wake Forest’s Michael Brennan defeated Georgia Tech’s Horoshi Tai on the third playoff hole to win the ACC Men’s Golf Individual Championship.

NC State was led by freshman Michael La Sasso who finished in a tie for 19^th place on the individual leaderboard at one-over par. La Sasso’s final round of three-under par 69 was the best round by an NC State golfer for the tournament.

Maximilian Steinlechner was next for the Pack, one shot back of La Sasso in a tie for 23^rd place. Steinlechner, along with La Sasso, paced NC State in round one with a one-under par 71.

Brandon Einstein finished in a tie for 28^th place, one shot back of Steinlechner. Einstein had his best round of the tourney on Sunday, shooting even-par 72.

Carter Graf was one shot back of Einstein in a tie for 34^th place and Spencer Oxendine rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 44^th place.

The 2023 NCAA Men’s Golf Selection Show is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 at 1 p.m. ET and will air live on the Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals will be held May 15-17.

NC State has received a big into the NCAA Regionals in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
