Men’s Golf Ties for Fourth at Kepler Intercollegiate

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Penn State men’s golf team finished tied for fourth in the 16-team field while senior Patrick Sheehan placed in the top 15 as the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate wrapped up on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.
 
Penn State fired a 14-over, 298, in the third round to finish the 54-hole tournament at 32-over, 884. No. 25 Ohio State won the team title on its home course, finishing at 2-over, 854, while Kent State (21-over, 873) and Northern Illinois (26-over, 878) finished in second and third and the Nittany Lions and Dayton tied for fourth.
 
Sheehan shot a 1-over, 72, in Sunday’s final round to move up nine spots and finish tied for 14th at 6-over, 219. He collects the fifth top-15 finish of his senior season.
 
Senior Jimmy Meyers carded a 7-over, 78, Sunday to place tied for 21st at 8-over, 221.
 
Junior James Allen placed tied for 30th after shooting a 5-over, 76, in the final round to finish at 11-over, 224.
 
Sophomore Jake Griffin carded a 3-over, 74, Sunday, to move up 16 spots into a tie for 35th at 12-over, 225.
 
Freshman Billy Pabst Jr. shot a 5-over, 76, in the final round and finished at 15-over, 228, to place tied for 53rd.
 
Freshman Jack Zubkus finished at 23-over, 236, while playing as an individual.
 
The Nittany Lions now turn their attention to next weekend’s Big Ten Championships. The championship tournament is set for Friday-Sunday at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J.
