Ladies European Tour (LET) stars Liz Young and Alice Hewson will represent Team England at the 2023 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown after Georgia Hall and Charley Hull withdrew from the squad with health issues.
Hewson has made a solid start to 2023, currently sitting sixth in the Race to Costa del Sol standings with her best result coming at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open where she finished runner-up.
Young meanwhile became an LET winner for the first time back in September at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open. Playing the best golf of her career, the 40-year-old has since claimed further silverware on the Rose Ladies Series last month.
The pair will join the England squad for the team event on the LPGA Tour alongside Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Bronte Law.
Statement from Georgia Hall
“I’ve been struggling with my foot for the past few weeks and in spite of daily physio treatment it’s not improving, so I’ve been advised to take a week off.
“I’m really sorry not to be able to play the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown and wish my England teammates the very best of luck for the week. I also want to especially thank President Yeo and his team at Hanwha for bringing this event back to the LPGA Tour.”
Statement from Charley Hull
“I’m gutted to have to withdraw from the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown this week. I’ve been quite sick the past couple of weeks with stomach issues. I was hoping I could play through it but it seems not and I’m going to need to seek some help.
“I’m really sorry to let the tournament down and of course my teammates, but I’m going to have to take some time out to get healthy. Thank you to Hanwha, especially President Yeo, for your support of the LPGA and women’s golf.”
An updated roster of all 32 players follows.
The final country seedings and qualified players for the International Crown were confirmed via the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings as of April 3, 2023, immediately following the DIO Implant LA Open. The final countries were determined by the combined Rolex Rankings of the top four players from each country as of Nov. 21, 2022, immediately following the CME Group Tour Championship.
The country seedings were locked in as of April 3 and will not change regardless of any further team line-up changes.
