2022-23 Team Awards Announced At Banquet

Bears Staying Busy In Amateur Play

Nathan Wang, Cal’s Newcomer of the Year, was one of five Golden Bears honored during the team’s annual banquet on Friday.


Five Golden Bears Honored At Annual Event

ORINDA – Sampson Zheng was named the California men’s golf team’s Most Valuable Player, highlighting a group of five Golden Bears who earned honors at the team’s annual banquet at Orinda Country Club.
 
Junior Aaron Du received the Ben Furth Award for the second consecutive year and redshirt junior Costas Panay earned the Ed Arnold Coaches’ Award. Nathan Wang was tabbed as the Newcomer of the Year while fellow freshman Daniel Heo was named the Most Improved Player.
 
The Bears have more golf to play this season, as they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional on May 15-17. The 54-hole regional will be played at The Institute Golf Club, located outside of San Jose.
