Women's Golf Regional Begins Monday In Washington


Carolina women’s golf begins 54 holes of stroke play Monday in the NCAA Pullman Regional at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
 
The Tar Heels are paired with Houston and UNLV and will tee off in the first round beginning at 11:55 a.m.
 
Carolina’s lineup includes freshman Megan Streicher, senior and two-time All-ACC honoree Kayla Smith, junior Crista Izuzquiza, freshman Inez Ng and junior Natalia Aseguinolaza. Sophomore Riley Quartermain could play as an alternate in a later roun.
 
This is UNC’s second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Aimee Neff and the Tar Heels’ 28th since regional play began in 1993.
 
Top-ranked Stanford is the No. 1 seed. Baylor, Southern California, Clemson, Kentucky, Texas Tech, Houston, UNLV, Sacramento State, Cal Poly and Green Bay join the Cardinal and Tar Heels 13-team field.
 
The top five teams and low individual finisher not on one of the five teams that advance will move on to compete in the 2023 NCAA Championship May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
