CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia sophomore golfer Amanda Sambach (Pinehurst, N.C.) is one of 10 players named to the final watch list for the 2023 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel the Haskins Foundation announced today. Sambach is currently one of the hottest golfers in the country, winning the ACC Individual Championship with a record-setting score of 14-under 202 and sharing medalist honors at the NCAA Westfield Regional. She shot 13-under 203 at the regional site. Sambach has posted under-par rounds in her last eight trips to the course and shot 27-under over her last six rounds.
She currently leads UVA with a 71.57 scoring average. She opened the season by winning the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer.
Voting for the 2023 ANNIKA Award opened today and will remain open until the completion of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship on Monday, May 22. The 2023 ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel will be presented Tuesday, May 23 on Golf Channel. The 2023 ANNIKA Award winner will also be awarded an exemption into the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship.
