Vols Ninth Entering Final Round of NCAA Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. – Tennessee men’s golf wrapped up its second round of play at the NCAA Regionals at Auburn University Club Tuesday and sits in ninth place entering the tournament’s final round.
The Vols shot 10-over as a team on Tuesday and are 19-over through two rounds—eight strokes back from the field’s fifth-place team.
Following Wednesday’s third round of play, the top five teams in the Auburn Regional—as well as the top five teams from each of the other five NCAA Regionals—will advance to the NCAA Championships.
SEC Freshman of the Year Caleb Surratt gave Tennessee its best score during round one and remained the highest Vol on the leaderboard after Tuesday’s second round at 16th place. Surratt carded a 2-over 74 on Wednesday after shooting even par on Monday.
After recording Tennessee’s highest score during round one on Monday, redshirt freshman Lance Simpson bounced back to card the Vols’ best round on Tuesday—shooting even par to improve his standing to 48th place. Simpson is 9-over in total through two rounds.
Laurent Desmarchais and Jake Hall shot identical scores of 4-over 76 on Tuesday, giving Tennessee its final two counting rounds.
Coupled with his 2-over score during round one, Desmarchais is tied for 35th place and 6-over for the tournament, while Hall’s 4-over score from Tuesday pairs with his 6-over score from Monday—moving him into a tie for 54th place at 10-over.
Bryce Lewis shot 1-over in round one, but was 6-over in round two. Lewis is tied for 37th place entering Wednesday’s final round.
