Alabama Women’s Golf in Second after Day One of Boilermaker Classic


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Alabama women’s golf team carded a team score of 5-under par 571 (284-287) and sits in second overall after Monday’s opening day of the Boilermaker Classic. Leading the way for the Crimson Tide is Taylor Kehoe, who sits in sixth overall, after carding a 4-under 140 on the par 72, 6,299-yard Kampen-Cosler course.

The Tide have three in the top-10 individual leaderboard in Kehoe (6th, 4-under), Elina Sinz (7th, 3-under) and Sarah Edwards (T9th, 1-under).

The Highlights

  • Taylor Kehoe sits in sixth place turning in a score of 4-under 140 (71-69) through the first two rounds
  • After posting a 1-over 71 in the opening round, Elina Sinz turned in a card of 4-under 68 in the second round
  • Sinz’s second round included six birdies with four on the back nine
  • Other Crimson Tide golfers include Kaitlyn Schroeder (t25th, +4) and Harriet Lockley (+8, 77-75)
  • The Tide led the tournament after the first round with a team score of 282 (-6) and three strokes ahead of Minnesota in second place
  • Alabama placed three golfers in the top-10 after the first round, led by Kehoe in second place at 4-under 68

The Field

  • Alabama joins tournament host Purdue as the only other team under par, as the Boilermakers turned in a team score of 566 (-10) to lead the tournament
  • The third and final round will tee off Tuesday morning

Fun Facts

  • Freshmen duo Harriet Lockley and Kaitlyn Schroeder made their collegiate debut, as both Lockley and Schroeder recorded six birdies each across the first two rounds
