Virginia Men's Golf | Strong Finish Leads to Fourth-Place Showing at Texas Valero Collegiate

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The No. 16 Virginia men’s golf team posted its best single18-hole score of the tournament – during the Monday’s final round of play – to place fourth at the Texas Valero Collegiate. UVA finished at 1-under 863 in its first event of the fall. Vanderbilt won the tournament at 13-under 851. The competition was held at TPC San Antonio Oaks in San Antonio, Texas.

The Cavaliers were led by sophomore Bryan Lee who finished eighth at 3-under 213. He posted three consecutive rounds of 1-under 71. It was the second top-10 finish of his career.

Paul Chang, who joined the Cavalier program this fall after competing for the University’s club team the past two years, was 10th at 2-under 214. Chang, a junior, led UVA during the final round by shooting 3-under 69.

Junior Deven Patel was 16th at even par 216 after closing with a round of 2-under 70. Senior Grayson Wotnosky was 38th at 6-over 222 and first-year Josh Duangmanee placed 46th in his collegiate debut. Wotnosky shot 75 on the final day while Duangmanee had a sore of 74.

Rice transfer Henry Daly, competing as an individual, was 68th at 236.

UVA returns to action Sept. 18 and 19 at the Chicago Highlands Invitational.

Virginia played without Ben James during the event. James competed in the Walker Cup in early September, helping Team USA to victory.
