GOLF, Ill. – The Illinois women’s golf team opened the Windy City Collegiate Classic tied for 14th after carding a first round total of 295 (+7) at the Glen View Club. Second round play was halted due to darkness, with several groups remaining on the course.
Isabel Sy and Erica Lee opened the tournament holding spots in the Top 20, with duo placing tied for 10th and tied for 19th, respectively, after 18 holes of play. Sy’s 3-under 69 matched her season-low round and Lee’s 2-under 70 is the lowest round of her Illini career. The pair also picked up four birdies during their rounds.
Anna Ritter is tied for 53rd after an opening round 74 (+2), Lexanne Halama ended the day 80th after an 82 (+10) and Sophia Sulkar is 81st after her round of 84 (+12).
UCLA holds the team lead at 16-under (272) and Texas’ Farah O’Keefe leads individually at 8-under (64).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 3, for late second and third round action at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT.
