Women’s Golf | October 02, 2023

CHICAGO – USC Women’s golf finished the first two rounds, tied for 11th in the field, as junior Amari Avery and sophomore Catherine Park are currently tied for 18th in the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Glen View Club in Chicago on Monday (Oct. 2).

The Trojans opened the fall season with a tournament win and currently sit in 11th place amongst a tournament of ranked opponents. UCLA leads the tournament at 24-under-par as a squad.

Avery and Park currently sit three-under-par for the tournament. Both players swapped scores as Park opened with a 71 and followed it with a 70, while Avery did the opposite with a 70-71 score.

Senior Brianna Navarrosa is tied for 29th, as she rebounded from a 73 in the first round and put up a 69 in the second. Navarrosa jumped 19 spots after the first round, with most of her work coming in the front nine. The senior tallied four birdies in the front half and only accumulated one bogey in the back nine to card a three-under-par round.

Freshman Bailey Shoemaker entered the tournament as an individual participant and is tied for 58th. The first-year player is three-over-par after the first two rounds of action.

Senior Christine Wang and junior Xin (Cindy) Kou round out the group, as Wang posted a 76-73 (+5) and Kou carded a 76-75 (+7).

The Trojans return to the tee for the final round of action at 8:15 a.m. tomorrow at the Glen View Club in Chicago.
