Virginia Men's Golf | Chang Shares First-Round Lead at Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – UVA’s Paul Chang shot a career-best 5-under 67 and shared the first-round lead after the opening round at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. Chang helped Virginia finish the first day of competition in second place at 10-under 278. East Tennessee State, ranked 11th, leads the field at 275.

Chang opened his round with an eagle on the par-5, 542-yard first hole. He went bogey-free from there, recording birdies on 10, 11 and 18 to share the lead with ETSU’s Algot Kleen.

Ben James and George Duangmanee each posted scores of 2-under 70 for the Cavaliers to finish the round tied for 13th place. Deven Patel shot 1-under 71 and is in 26th position while Bryan Lee is in 51st place at 1-over 73.

UVA will be paired with Tennessee and UCLA during Saturday’s second round. Those teams are set to tee off starting at 10:15 a.m. from the 10th tee.
