Ryan Slonaker newest addition to Tech men's golf


BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech men’s golf head coach Brian Sharp announced the signing of Ryan Slonaker to a national letter of intent Wednesday. Slonaker, a three-time individual state champion, will enroll at Tech next summer.

High School: Five-year letterwinner at Eastern Mennonite School … Three-time individual state champion (2021-23) … Led Eastern Mennonite to the team state title in 2022 … Chose Tech over James Madison, Liberty, College of Charleston and Florida Gulf Coast.

Junior/Amateur: 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier … 2021 Optimist International Champion at Trump Doral in Miami, Fla. … Long drive champion at the 2022 Hope Valley Junior Invitational … Tied for fifth at the 2023 AJGA Penn State tournament … Tied for third at the 2021 VSGA Junior Stroke Play … Three-time VSGA Team Virginia representative … Has been ranked inside the top 100 nationally and No. 3 in Virginia for the class of 2024 by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Personal: Ryan Slonaker … Son of Chris and Mary Kaye Slonaker … Two brothers, Mark and Meade … Dad, Chris, played baseball for JMU … Brother, Meade, won the 2019 VISAA state championship and was the 2020 ODAC Rookie of the Year at Hampden-Sydney College … Plans to major in graphic design.
