In a highly-competitive field that featured 11 schools ranked in the top 60 nationally, the Missouri men’s golf team placed fifth of 18 schools at the Arizona National Invitational Tournament.
The opener for the spring campaign saw the Tigers card an 830 over the three rounds to place fifth at -34. The 830 total is a season-best score and the seventh-best mark in school history. It is also the team’s lowest total away from its home course since posting an 824 during the 2017 Warrior Invitational.
Overall, No. 28 New Mexico won the title at 813, followed by No. 6 Arizona (814) and No. 16 Arizona State (815). The Tigers, who were No. 35 after the fall season, finished one stroke ahead of SEC rival and No. 25 Texas A&M (831), while also placing ahead of top-40 schools in No. 36 SMU and No. 38 Loyola Marymount.
Senior Jack Lundin picked up where he left off in the fall campaign and posted a career-best score of 201 (66-68-67). Tied for the ninth-best score in school history, Lundin’s finish was two strokes better than his previous-best tally as he finished in fifth place overall at -15. Over the 72 holes, the senior carded three eagles and 16 birdies to pace the Tigers.
Senior Charlie Crockett placed 17th with a 10-under 206 (67-70-69), finishing with a three-under tally during the final 18 holes of action. Sophomore Virgilio Paz at -7 (70-70-69), sophomore Alfons Bondesson at even par (73-72-71) and junior Trevor Mierl at even par (74-70-72) rounded out the strong opener for Mizzou.

The Tigers are back in action in late February, competing at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas from Feb. 25 to Feb. 27.
