PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – No. 5 USC women’s golf edged out cross-town rival No. 4 UCLA in a match that went into a tiebreaker that saw the Trojans win four more individual holes on the second day of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.

In a race against the weather, USC continued to fight in the newly readjusted match-play tournament and claimed their second victory out of the three matches played. The Trojans got the most out of two players on their squad as sophomore Catherine Park and freshman Bailey Shoemaker earned the squad two points. Shoemaker made the most significant impact, as her six-hole victory made all the difference in the tiebreaker, as she allowed her opponent to not win any holes and held a 6-0 difference in individual holes won. On the other end, Park is 2-0-1 as an individual during the first three matches, while Shoemaker is 2-1-0 after three rounds of match play.
