Women’s Golf Travels to Hilton Head for Darius Rucker Intercollegiate


DURHAM For the 10th time in school history, the Duke women’s golf team will head south to compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, which will be contested March 4-6 at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.  The event will be broadcasted live on Golf Channel and Peacock from 2:30-5:30 p.m., each day. 
 
Along with the Blue Devils seeing action will be Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, Arizona State, Northwestern, Georgia, Baylor, Oregon, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. 
 
The Blue Devils will feature a lineup that includes graduate student Emma McMyler, senior Phoebe Brinker, senior Anne Chen, sophomore Andie Smith and freshman Katie Li
 
Duke returns to action after finishing strong at the Moon Golf Invitational as the Blue Devils carded the third-lowest final round with a 7-under, 281, led by McMyler and Li with 3-under-par scores of 69. 
 
In the first seven appearances at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, the Blue Devils finished no lower than fourth.  Duke carded a pair of victories in the first two tournaments in 2014 and 2015.  Leona Maguire (2015) and Yu Liu (2014) both have taken home individual medalist accolades in the invitational.
 
Last year, Brinker carded rounds of 72, 69 and 73 to finish tied for eighth with a 1-over, 214.  A native of Wilmington, Del., Brinker also turned in a tied for 16th finish as a sophomore with rounds of 73, 76 and 69 for a 5-over, 218. 
 
Duke, currently ranked No. 18 nationally, opens action in round one beginning at 10:10 a.m., on Monday off hole No. 1 along with Texas and Mississippi State.  The teams will play 18 holes each day.
