Virginia Men's Golf | Hoos Head to Georgia for Linger Longer Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team travels to Georgia this weekend when the Cavaliers play in the 19th annual Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The tournament runs March 17-19 with 18 holes contested each day. Teams will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. from the first and 10th tees each day.

This year’s 14-team field includes (NCAA ranking): Alabama (16), Augusta, Charlotte, Clemson, Georgia (27), Georgia Tech (14), Georgia State, UNC Greensboro (47), Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Tech, Mercer and Wofford

Virginia’s lineup features Deven Patel, Ben James, Paul Chang, Bryan Lee and Josh Duangmanee. George Duangmanee, will compete as an individual.

Patel is coming off a medalist performance at the Hayt Collegiate. He shot 3-under 213 to win his first collegiate event by one stroke. Patel is ranked No. 94 in this week’s NCAA standings following his win. James is UVA’s top-ranked player at No. 40 while Lee is 55 in the poll. James currently tops the Cavaliers with a 70.22 stroke average while Lee is second at 70.67 and Patel is third at 70.91.

Last year Virginia tied for eighth place in a 16-team field. Chris Fosdick led UVA with an 18th-place finish.
